There is a long tradition of excellence in Groton squash. For many years, players with and without previous experience have grown through a program that has produced multiple league championship teams, a number of team sportsmanship trophies, and the overwhelming majority of the best finishes by a small school at the New England Championships (so many, in fact, that it probably explains why the trophy for that feat is no longer awarded). Even in the context of today’s rising level of competition and increased specialization in junior sports, our program continues to thrive.

Not surprisingly, Groton players have won ISL Most Valuable Player and sportsmanship trophies, gone on to be key players on college national champion and Ivy League champion teams, and have captained some of the most prestigious college squash programs in the country. Many Groton players develop a love for the game that continues long after college, some going on to win state and national age-group and skill-level championships.

The success of Groton's teams and players can be attributed to several factors: twelve top-quality courts provide ample space and time for practices. Groton has hosted the U.S. National Championships, the National High School Championships, the Urban Nationals, and the New England Interscholastic Championships for both boys and girls. Throughout the season, players on all three Groton teams (varsity, JV, and thirds) benefit from the guidance of an extremely capable coaching staff, which includes longstanding school coaches and a former professional player. The program fosters the growth of all players, including highly ranked juniors as well as boys with no initial experience, some of whom have gone on to be among our most accomplished ambassadors of the game.

If you are a prospective student and would like to learn more about our boys squash program, please don't hesitate to contact Head Coach Dave Prockop. Better yet, call the Admission office to schedule an appointment and mention that you would like to meet with Coach Prockop during your visit.
